Driving in SpainIt is important to understand the
classification system for roads and follow the basic
driving rules in Spain. Fines imposed for speeding are calculated at 6€ per kilometer over the speed limit and are payable on the spot.
ParkingBe careful when parking your rental car, especially where signs are present.
Parking is also prohibited in all areas where the crub is painted yellow. Also, if you leave the car without attendance for too long or break the rules and park it in a restricted area, your rental car may be towed.
Toll RoadsGood or bad - Spain has the
toll roads -
Autopista. They are of excellent standard and all have service stations with cafes of an acceptable standard every 40 km or so. The tolls are expensive, especially in summer when the rates are doubled and are usually calculated per km. They do however mean that you can drive relaxed and safer over long distances as the locals usually avoid them.
