surcharge. The maximum age for rentals is 70 years. Seat belts are compulsory for all people traveling in the car.
Child seats are not mandatory on Malta.
Rules of the RoadVehicles drive on the left-hand side of the road. Headlights must be used at all times. It is illegal to use both a hand held or a hands free mobile phone device when driving.
Speed LimitsSpeed limits in Malta are as follows: City - 31mph/50kph, Open Roads - 50mph/80kph.
GasMost gas stations are open from 7 am to 8 pm. Some petrol stations operate 24 hrs on a self-service basis. Credit cards are not accepted.
ParkingDo not park where there are double yellow lines. When visiting certain localities in Malta and Gozo watch out for “Time Parking Zones”. These are zones where parking is limited to a one hour maximum. If any motoring or parking offence is committed for which a fine is payable then this will be required to be settled before departure.
