Requirements
To rent a car, you must be at least 21 years old (age may vary by car category) and have held your license for 2 years. Drivers age 23 and under and over the age of 70 may incur an additional fee locally. There is a maximum age of 75 for rental. Seat belts are mandatory. Children under 12 years old should be seated in the rear and child seats are mandatory for children up to age 3.

Do not drive while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. It is a serious offence in Ireland. The legal tolerance limit is 0.08%.

In Ireland, they do have routine traffic stops and checkpoints. You should make sure that you have appropriate identification and vehicle documents with you.
